I’m an artist. I…art… things.
I first uttered this phrase, with more enthusiasm than forethought, while covered in fake blood and real sand in the backstage of Berry College’s theatre. Both the quote and the circumstance in which it was coined go a long way in describing the work you will find here.
In my paintings, drawings, and writing I attempt to convey worlds of dark whimsy, to create the sort of creatures, places, and characters you can find at the crossroads of the familiar and the strange. Any level of gravitas I may possess, however, is expressed solely in my work, and even that must give way from time to time to the cheerful absurdity that better characterizes my life. Turn one corner and you’ll find yourself staring into the teeth of a grinning monster from the shadows of the id, turn the next and you’ll be greeted by a happy fox eating a stack of pancakes.
It’s a strange sort of land, but if you’re the kind of person who chafes in the bindings of reality and finds yourself dreaming of other worlds, I think you’ll fit in just fine. This is a place for daydreamers and storytellers to meet characters and creatures who do not exist. Some of them live in my head. Others, perhaps, live in yours.
This creature to the right is the Balagan Beast, the muse behind the things that I art and write. He will be your guide and caretaker during your stay. Feel free to explore my artwork, read some short stories, or invite my creatures into your home. If you’re a writer with characters of your own whom you would like to meet, the Balagan Beast and I would be happy to help draw them out of your head.
Thank you for visiting my weird little world. I hope you enjoy your stay!
