Love and Marriage: The Tale of 2015 Part I

This year has gotten away from me faster than I ever imagined it would.  I knew it was going to be a busy one, at least in the beginning, but it's thrown some curveballs, both good and bad.  The bad is depressing and not all my business to tell, so let's just focus on the positive changes, starting with my sister's wedding.

After the New Year celebration ended and the holidays were officially a happy memory, our family went full-tilt at wedding preparations for my sister's impending nuptials.  The fact that weddings are stressful isn't really news to anyone; I think you hear that phrase from former brides more than you hear their happy memories of the day.  There are just so many details to think about, even before you add in the circus performance of managing the delicate relationships in the powder keg that is a room full of relatives.  Surely there is some kind of middle ground possible between courthouse wedding and the anxiety-ridden nightmare of logistics and tulle that seems endemic to even a low-budget traditional wedding.

All I know is that if I ever get hitched, there's going to be a sword fight somewhere in there, maybe in the process of making sure I actually get to eat food.  The rest is negotiable.

Luckily, it was only 3 months of intensive wedding prep work, and we did pawn her off on her new husband successfully.  I even got to create some art for the wedding, including dipping my hands back into the Sculpey box for the cake toppers.  Look, photographic evidence, courtesy of Anne Yarbrough Photography!

In spite of the stress, it was a lot of fun to create artwork for a wedding. It's something I'd be happy to do again for someone else's themed wedding, especially if that theme is monsters (my sister didn't appreciate a lot of my vision for her wedding for some reason...).In the next post, I'll regale you with the other fun things that have been happening this month.  Meanwhile, if you want someone to art things for your wedding, feel free to contact me through my Facebook page!
